With a focus on a digital diagnostics platform and inheritable testing installation, the U.S.-based perfection health technology business Waive Diagnostics plans to establish its South Asian headquarters in Gelephu Mindfulness City, Bhutan. This program aligns with Bhutan’s shift to data-driven preventive healthcare and supports the GMC’s emphasis on awareness and long-term benefits.Operations will start at Gelephu Central Regional Referral Hospital and also grow into a completely functional testing center after a three- time arrangement with the GMC Authority.
Waive Diagnostics is a digital platform that integrates various health data layers such as inheritable test results, clinical records, imaging data, and lifestyle patterns, functioning differently from a traditional laboratory. This system enables healthcare professionals to track long-term health trends by connecting with Bhutan’s electronic case data. Prioritizing data security, Waive Diagnostics plans to employ “amount-evidence blockchain” and advanced protection technologies to safeguard health data in Bhutan. Additionally, artificial intelligence will play a role in analyzing complex genetic and clinical patterns to enhance predictive healthcare.
Bhutan has been selected as a strategic base for its artistic morality and government policies that harmonies scientific testing with awareness. The initiative unfolds in stages, starting with advancements to existing sanitarium laboratories and the introduction of advanced genetic testing capabilities, and evolving to fulfil local needs. Within two years, training for Bhutanese professionals will ensure the transfer of knowledge and sustainability. Waive Diagnostics aims to establish Bhutan as a national hub and facilitate a shift towards a preventive healthcare model that aligns with current cultural values while addressing crucial data governance concerns, thereby aiming to tap into the $15 billion South Asian diagnostics market.
