The Bhutan Football Federation has entered into a landmark partnership with Hummel, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 14 April at Gold Fish Resort. The agreement marks a significant step forward in the development of football in Bhutan, strengthening international collaboration and shared values between the two sides.
The signing ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including His Eminence Sangay Dorji, Ambassador Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, Hummel owner Christian Stadil, and BFF President Ugen Tshechup, along with executive members and officials.
Speaking at the event, Dasho Ugen Tshechup emphasized that the partnership goes beyond sponsorship and reflects a shared vision of using sport as a tool for unity and positive change. Christian Stadil echoed this sentiment, highlighting Hummel’s commitment to purpose-driven sport, community, and identity, and praising Bhutan’s steady and resilient approach to football development.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of Bhutan’s new national team jersey. The kit was presented by national players Chencho Gyeltshen and Pema Zangpo alongside young talent Tshendru Tshering Pelzom. The jersey was later blessed, symbolizing pride and a new chapter for Bhutanese football.
Football in Bhutan has grown steadily since the federation’s establishment in 1983, with milestones including membership in the Asian Football Confederation in 1993 and FIFA in 2000. The national team gained global attention in 2015 with its first-ever FIFA World Cup qualifying win, reflecting the country’s perseverance on the international stage.
Under the three-year agreement, Hummel will provide bespoke national team kits and FIFA-approved equipment, while also supporting Bhutan’s international presence and fan engagement. The partnership is expected to play an important role in advancing football in Bhutan by supporting players, strengthening grassroots development, and bringing Bhutan’s football journey to a wider global audience.
