His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan concluded a comprehensive two-day inspection of major infrastructure projects across the Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) Special Administrative Region. Accompanied by Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, military leaders, and Indian diplomatic and engineering delegates, His Majesty evaluated operational milestones driving the eco-conscious mega-city’s initial growth phase. The royal itinerary included visits to Choego GMC—the region’s newly completed architectural reference building serving as an operational base for international partners—alongside ongoing development sites at the Royal Bhutan Country Club in Barshong and Gyalsung Infra assets in Tareythang. His Majesty also inspected progress at the Gelephu International Airport expansion site, the Royal Jigmeling Golf Club, and Sarpang Dzong, where preparations are underway for the construction of 108 sacred Chortens scheduled for completion later this year. Designed to serve as a 2,500-square-kilometer economic and mindfulness corridor connecting South and Southeast Asia, GMC continues to lay the physical groundwork for sustainable tech, wellness, and green infrastructure investments under direct royal guidance.
