Bhutan prepares for a historic Eurovision Asia debut as five finalists compete to become the country’s first representative at the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026. After months of auditions, rehearsals and live performances, the finalists will battle it out in the grand finale of Rhythm of Bhutan, hoping to earn the chance to showcase Bhutanese music and culture on an international stage in Bangkok.
For the young artists, the competition represents more than a musical contest. It is an opportunity to represent their country, share Bhutanese creativity with a wider audience and make history. Finalists Thukten Nyendra and Sangay Lhaden describe the opportunity as a dream and a source of immense pride, while acknowledging the nerves and learning that have come with the competition.
The event also marks a significant moment for Eurovision itself, with the format expanding beyond Europe for the first time. According to the European Broadcasting Union, the inaugural Asian edition will bring broadcasters from ten Asian nations together under the Eurovision motto, “United by Music.”
