Bhutanese officials welcomed the King and Queen of Thailand at Paro International Airport, demonstrating the close relationship between the two countries. His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua made his first state visit overseas this morning as he landed in Bhutan for a four-day state visit at the King’s request. Thailand’s King and Queen were welcomed by children lining the Paro route, and their arrival was marked by traditional celebrations.
At Tendrelthang, Druk Gyalpo and Gyaltsuen hosted a special welcome program for Thailand’s King and Queen, which was attended by members of the Royal Family. A cultural program featured traditional dances from Bhutan and Thailand, and a guard of honor was given by DeSuups and Gyalsuups. Bhutan-Thailand ties saw a dramatic shift when 74 Thai and 74 Bhutanese monks attended a historic occasion at Kuenselphodrang.
