Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay have committed to enhancing the bilateral relationship between Japan and Bhutan during their meeting in Tokyo on March 14. Takaichi highlighted their shared core values, including democracy and the rule of law, emphasizing the significance of their partnership. She also noted that 2023 marks the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations and expressed her intention to further strengthen these ties. In response, Tobgay expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from Japan towards Bhutan and expressed optimism for the continued development of their friendship.
