The Norbugang Industrial Park in Samtse is only 45% physical and 37.16% financial progress, with delays in critical components like the boundary wall, affecting its completion date. The park’s water supply system is 65% complete and 62.2% physical. The park plans 15 industrial plots, with 10 allotted and eight under construction. Limited employment opportunities in ferroalloy plants raise concerns. The agency stated that Bhutanese contractors are handling civil construction work and that businesses participating in the park have pledged to employ local labor. Bhutanese experts in disciplines including finance, administration, and civil engineering are now working on ongoing initiatives in the park.
In spite of the setbacks, the department reaffirmed its determination to finish the Norbugang Industrial Park on time in order to assist the developing enterprises. It is anticipated that the construction of Norbugang and Dhamdhum Industrial Parks would assist Samtse residents more broadly economically. Phase-wise road widening and blacktopping work from Samtse to Norbugang aims to improve connectivity, facilitate transport, and trade, with construction of Dramzang bridge costing Nu 140.4m.
