
GMC attended the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit in Guwahati, India, where its delegation, led by Jonathan Tow and Rabsel Dorji, discussed the vision of His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, including the Diamond Strategy and “One Country Two Systems” approach. As per His Majesty’s vision, Jonathan Tow emphasized that GMC would concentrate on growing seven key industries. This would lay the groundwork for the thriving economic center that His Majesty had in mind. While the GMC team was finalizing the legal, judicial, financial, and operational policies to create the SAR, Jonathan Tow informed the participants that early-stage opportunities for investors included infrastructure projects to build the Gelephu International Airport.
As well as in the energy and hospitality sectors, and companies eager to establish R&D and financial and digital assets presence in GMC. Jonathan Tow underlined that the GMC is prepared to work closely with India, especially Assam, a nearby neighbor and major economic force. Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, expressed confidence in Assam’s collaboration with GMC, backed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The session, attended by Bhutan’s Agriculture Minister, Business Leaders, and a Bhutanese delegation, highlighted GMC’s potential as a regional hub.
