According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), the death toll from floods and related incidents in Nepal has risen to 1,342. This figure follows a review of the latest status of search, rescue, and relief operations during the 36th meeting of the Executive Committee for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and a joint meeting of key government agencies held on Sunday. As per the latest update issued by the NDRRMA at 6 PM on September 6, approximately 4,996 people remain missing; of these, about 1,967 are from Rasuwa and 2,340 from Nuwakot. The list of missing persons also includes approximately 589 foreign nationals. So far, a total of 13,391 people have been rescued, while 3,912 are currently staying in holding centers located in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading. Bodies—including various unidentified human remains—have been recovered from Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Chitwan, Tanahun, Nawalparasi East, and Nawalparasi West. The highest number of bodies was recovered in Chitwan (362), followed by Nawalparasi East (222), Nawalparasi West (220), Nuwakot (195), Rasuwa (163), Gorkha (74), Dhading (68), and Tanahun (38). Meanwhile, the NDRRMA stated that the 36th meeting of the Executive Committee for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management concluded on Sunday afternoon. In a post on X, the authority said, “The 36th meeting of the Executive Committee for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management concluded this afternoon to review the latest status of search, rescue, and relief operations following the Rasuwa floods and to facilitate certain policy measures.” A joint meeting of key government agencies and operational teams involved in coordinating search, rescue, and relief efforts was also held to assess the ongoing response. In another post on X, the NDRRMA stated, “A joint meeting was held involving key government agencies and operational teams from the thematic sectors established to coordinate search, rescue, and relief operations following the Rasuwa floods. The meeting reviewed the latest status of rescue operations, relief efforts, and shelter sites, as well as the challenges encountered in this regard.” A total of 21,465 security personnel are engaged in disaster relief operations, comprising 9,287 troops from the Nepali Army, 7,975 from the Nepal Police, and 4,203 from the Armed Police Force.
