The festive joy of Bohag Bihu turned into gloom in Assam’s Goalpara district today when two minor twin brothers met their watery grave in the Krishnai river. The two siblings had gone to the riverbank at Bhojmala area to bathe cattle as part of customary Goru Bihu rituals when the tragic incident happened. The deceased have been identified as Dipankar Nath and Debashish Nath, both Class 9 students and residents of Tengabari village. According to sources, the boys got drowned while they were bathing cattle in the river. Alarmed locals soon informed the authorities, following which a search operation was launched. Personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rushed to the site and conducted an intensive search operation. After several hours of efforts, the bodies of the two brothers were recovered from the river.
