The Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoESD) will launch a free-of-cost three-year diploma programme aimed at expanding Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) pathways for students.
Education Minister Yeezang De Thapa said the initiative is particularly intended for students who repeatedly fail in academic grades, encouraging them to shift towards skills-based education aligned with labour market needs.
Highlighting the skills gap, the minister noted that out of over 5,100 applicants for a recent job vacancy, only around 300 were selected. To address this mismatch, MoESD has partnered with institutions in Singapore to introduce a Multi-Pathway Education Module at Gedu College of Business Studies, starting in August 2026.
The diploma will be offered in agriculture entrepreneurship, healthcare services, and aviation and airport operations management, allowing Class X graduates to gain practical skills alongside essential academics.
