Bhutan has commissioned a new hydropower project on the Wangchu River, increasing the country’s renewable energy capacity. The plant, developed with Indian technical and financial support, will export electricity to neighboring states.
Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay said the project would strengthen Bhutan’s economy while promoting green energy cooperation in South Asia.
For Bhutan-based coverage, this is a domestic achievement in clean energy; for Indian and regional outlets, the story underlines cross-border benefits, as increased energy trade supports regional development and reduces dependence on fossil fuels.
